Word. 11 months of fun times in an 8’ x 8’ room with Mr.Posner and Mr.Oakes.
I did the 3D, Joe and Brian did the 2D and Art Direction of the Eugene Jarecki (Why We Fight) segment, which basically suggests in no uncertain terms that the crime drop in the 90’s was proportional to Roe v. Wade.
I also did a little segment with an apple/orange slice for Seth Gordon (King of Kong).
Chekkitout if it’s in a theater near you. Or you can see “Cats vs. Dogs: The Return of Kitty Galore”. It’s a toss up.
Here’s the trailer for FREAKONOMICS, which will be available for your viewing pleasure in ONE WEEK (see below). As previously mentioned — this is the first big movie project I’ve been involved in. The film is comprised of four short chapters each by a different (outstanding) doc director, plus little interstitials by another (superlative) director to tie it all together.
I collaborated with director Eugene Jarecki on “It’s Not Always A Wonderful Life” (an adaptation of Chapter Four of the book) throughout the process, a process which from our first idea conversations to amazing & huge team pushing to the finish line lasted over two years. The approach had two cornerstones, first to draw an ironic connection to the timeless Capra film, and second to use animation and motion design to illustrate Levitt’s theories and more importantly - his approach to the world, his perspective. My continuing feeling is that while sometimes I come down closer to the side of Levitt’s critics, I continue to be wowed by his way of looking at the world. His perspective is fresh and valuable regardless of whether all the shocking claims he make hold up in the long run, and I hope that is where the film excels.
Magnolia, the distributor, is “FLIPPING THE WINDOW” by releasing the film on iTunes & on demand F1RST. iTunes is in ONE WEEK on September 3rd, and then it opens in these theaters, including my childhood art house haven the Kendall (in Cambridge), on October 1st!
As mentioned in previous posts… other new work coming soon! Or, I hope soon, so I can stop living in this cave.
